Unlike times in the past, it is difficult to get a person to sit for a portrait, so I most often shoot a number of photos of my subject and paint from my photograph. Character, body movement and personality can often be revealed in painting in subtle and stunning ways.

I am currently playing with mixed media - layering paper imagery and painting, layer by layer, exposing and highlighting, removing or finding a transparency - creating a new way to tell the story behind my subject.
